Mother's Day Kiss

She has kissed characters in her book. Over and over again. Especially a book called Jag's New Friend. Heck, she has kissed LeAnne Rimes who's photo is on the back of the book over and over again.

Last saturday after the Miles For Moffitt walk I was taking our photo and I candidly said, "Give Mommy a Kiss." and she did. My heart melted.

18 months/19 months

Just breakfast on Mother's Day with my shades. She wears them a lot longer than hair ties.

Checking out Pap Pap's Gold Wing.

New way of transportation.
Time to go!

Ok this is way late. It is three days past 19 months. But we have lots of updates:

  • Maggie can identify every member of the family in photos. She knows everyone including her Aunt's, Uncle's and Grand Parents and God Parents.
  • She is sleeping in her toddler bed. More on that later.
  • Maggie has gone through a "I hate the bath tub" phase as of late. Tonight was the best bath time in weeks.
  • Right on schedule, at 18 months we had the canine teeth breaking through. Lots of getting up at least once in the middle of the night.
  • She can put her shapes in the right slots with ease and does the big puzzles too!
  • Her favorite books these days are potty books, Elmo Letter book, Stellaluna and On the Night you were Born.
  • In Kansas she sat in an arcade "Car" game and loved it. The other day at home she climbed in the front seat of my car, supervised of course, and reached for the car door, shut it and waved good bye to me. And yes, I had to pull her out of there kicking and screaming.
  • We went through a "I don't want to be in my car seat phase" that has also passed.
  • She loves to try on my shoes.
  • She shuts her bedroom door before bedtime.
  • I rock her for three songs and then lay her in her bed at night.
  • She likes sausage, cheese and egg omelets in the mornings.
  • She has been feeding herself for a while- month or so.
  • Tonight she held our hands when saying grace. It was a magical moment. We always put our hands out there and try to hold, but she never "got it". Today, she held BOTH our hands.
  • She loves to play with her barn that she got at Easter and her Zoo Talkers.
  • She watches Super Why, Cat in the Hat or Barney on occasion in the morning.
  • She climbs. Loves to be carried on your back.
  • Maggie is ticklish under her arm-- and loves to be tickled by the tickle bee.
  • Loves her "Lovie" when she sleeps- and only for sleep.
  • Her hair is long enough for pony tail on top of her head. She doesn't keep the hair tie in for long. :(
  • Walks down our stairs while holding on to the rail and my hand. Easily.
  • She gave me a kiss for the first time the day before Mother's day. I will post the photo.
Speech
*Maggie only says Dad Dad on command and at 18 months she should say about 10-15 words...So the pediatrician wanted to get her hearing test. She passed with flying colors. She then said we should go to have a speech evaluation done. We did and they told us she was really smart, like a 3 year old level at times. But the speech therapist can understand why were getting her checked. Since she has had seven ear infections and was in a bi-lingual house for the first year both could have caused her from speaking more words. Learning two languages is definitely a bonus because it taught her that words have double meaning and children that can learn more than one language young is definitely awesome. If you ask her animals, body parts, people, task, she points at it all seamlessly. She just doesn't speak a lot of words. We may sign up for some speech therapy. The speech therapist said-- think of it "boot camp" for pre-school. Nothing to worry about, but just want to stay on top of it.

She is growing and learning at such a fast speed. Motherhood is more fun and more work than I could have ever imagined. My love for her is limitless. She is my heart walking outside my body. I can't believe I am not grey hair already. I love her so much and really enjoy watching Mike be a great dad. He is my right hand man and I don't thank him enough. I think we are a great team and are doing the best we can as parents. He is a really great dad and I love watching him interact with Maggie it makes my heart full.
