Meet Aunt Rita

Today we spent the last day of 2010 having Maggie meet Great Aunt Rita. To Maggie she would be her "GREAT GREAT Aunt Rita!"
Aunt Rita lit up like christmas tree and was so excited to meet Maggie. I wanted to take her down to Sarasota for a quick visit before I went back to work because I don't know when I would be able to get down there with January being so hectic. Dad also joined us for the quick trip and we ate at Chipotle UTC afterward. Fun!

What Santa Brought Maggie

Santa really loves Maggie and wants to make sure she has plenty to eat in 2011.

Bath time with Dad

Every bathtime needs a look out man, here is Buster standing guard at the door.

Maggie is wearing her "robe" that Santa brought her for Christmas.

On the left is a shot of Mike changing her from the reflection of the mirror in her room.

2 months, 2 weeks, 2 days old TODAY!

And I didn't get a photo... :(

UGH.
Here are some interesting notes though:

* Maggie is gripping more and more.

* Maggie is swinging her arms ALOT. She is wacking the toys on her bouncy chair. She has locked on the toys a couple of times.

* We have nicknamed her bouncy seat the POOP chair. She seems to always have a dirty diaper after sitting there for a while and we pick her up.

* She is GASSY. Her toots are worse than dirty diapers.

* Hiccups have decrease after feedings tremendously. It is almost as if she grew out of that phase. She gets them every once in a while, but not like every feeding like it was a few weeks ago.

* We packed more of her 0-3 months clothes, especially the Carter clothes. She is inching her way out of them every day. Today I put something on her and it was stretching to fit her.

* At night she sleeps in 6 hour blocks depending on what time she goes down.

Will try for another photo at 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days.

Meet the Gandle Girls

The girls on the right and the left are Lauren and Cassandra Gandle. I baby sat them when Cassandra (right)was 2 and was there when they brought Lauren home from the hospital. I watched them several times a week while in high school and at HCC. Now, Cassandra is in College and Lauren is a Junior at Tampa Prep.

The woman in the middle is Carol. She is fighting Ovarian Cancer and will beat it I am sure. They are very special people to me.

Church Street Christmas with Z-man

Tonight Shannon and I took the kids to Church Street Christmas in Dade City. It was such a perfect night, 68 degrees and clear. We heard Christmas songs at the First Baptist Church where one of Shannon's friends were singing in a pageant. We only strolled for about 45 minutes before going to ABC pizza and splitting a pizza and salad.

The photo above was taken before the stroll. Zander-man is sitting so sweetly. Maggie on the on the other hand, was not ready for any photos.

First Trip to the Mall

Maggie's first trip to the mall. Westfield Brandon Mall on December 22nd.
Shopping for Christmas presents.

Cookie Tradition

Today we started a new holiday tradition. Maggie and I made cookies together while Dad was upstairs sleeping trying to get rid of the cold. The cookies were just sugar cookies this time. But in the future I imagine we will get creative with all kinds like chocolate chip, peanut butter and sprinkles. The picture above is not so great cause she is about to cry... the oven alarm was going off and she is saying, "MOM GO GET THE COOKIES OUT!"

Here is our finished product (notice the snowman looking back at you):

Meet Julianne

Yesterday Maggie met Julianne. She is one of my mom's best best friends. She too just had a grand baby which Maggie is about one month older than. She came down from PA to visit and wanted to meet Maggie. Two grandmas pictured above!

Stockings

We had stockings from years past. They were shabby. New baby, new stockings. And we went big time. Pottery Barn. You only get one chance to start out life and your first Christmas with your original stocking. Here they are below. I battled back and forth on if I should use "KIM and MIKE" or "Mom and Dad". I went with our new titles. Why? I thought back to what my parents have at their house. It worked for them and us back then, so I did the same. Plus, I really want to start the tradition of filling her stocking. Not sure if Mike and I fill ours or fill our own, but hers will be filled. Maybe this year I will fill it with things like: Travel packs of wipes, q-tips, mylican drops, baby Tylenol and basically stuff for the diaper bag. I still have time to fill it. To be continued.

Love from Clarksville, GA

Today we got the a very awesome gift. Nana's best friend Kathy made a beautiful quilt for Maggie. The colors, the design, the fabric all of it was just amazing. It has her named embroidered at the top and her birthday at the bottom. The colors are just fantastic and will be a part of Maggie's life forever. Truly a beautiful quilt that came from someone that is so special to us. Kathy and Judy have an amazing friendship and my only wish is that Maggie has friends like they have in each other.

2 month Check up

Today we went and saw Dr.Deckle. We bundled Maggie up in a long sleeve onesie, pants and jacket with a hoodie. She also had her blanket around her to keep her warm while it was 37 degrees outside.

She had the following (2 shots - one in each leg, and one orally)

- DTap
- HIB
- Polio
- Prevnar

The doctor also said that she should be able to start sleeping through the night more and try to get her on some sort of routine. She said everything looks great and that we have a healthy baby.

Our next appointment is February 15th at 9am.

Maggie 2 months Highlights

Congrats! You've made it to the two-month mark. If you haven't ventured out alone yet, it's probably time to give it a shot. It's healthy for you to take a break, and it's also good for baby to meet new people. Entrusting baby to someone else for the first time can be scary, so make sure you already know the caregiver. Ask them to stick as close to baby's usual routine as possible so that there's some sense of normalcy while you're away.
Baby's motor skills and senses are developing like crazy.

Her hand-eye coordination is improving, she's starting to recognize specific sounds and sights, and is getting pretty darned good at holding up her head. Also this week: It's time for baby's two-month checkup! Your doc will check her overall growth and development and give a round of immunizations. (While some parents fear baby will get sick from vaccinations, most doctors believe the benefits outweigh the risk.)

Your baby can tell the difference between familiar voices and other sounds, and he's becoming a better listener. He can also show you that he's in tune with his environment. Notice how he looks to see where certain noises are coming from.

An ongoing conversation (although seemingly one-sided) can help your baby develop his sense of place. He may even watch your mouth as you talk, fascinated by how it all works. You'll be amazed by his ability to communicate with a growing repertory of coos (musical, vowel-like sounds), smiles, and unique cries to express his different needs.

Into complex designs
At this point, your baby will begin to move beyond his early preferences for bright or two-toned objects toward more detailed and complicated designs, colors, and shapes. Show your baby — and let him touch — a wider variety of objects. Good choices include plastic cookie cutters, soft balls, and stuffed animals.

Hear ye, hear ye
Your baby can differentiate familiar voices from other sounds and is becoming a better listener. He also can show you that he's in tune with his environment. Notice how he looks to see where certain noises are coming from.

An ongoing conversation (although still one-sided!) can help your baby develop his sense of place. He may even watch your mouth as you talk, fascinated by how it all works.

Note: If you have any doubt about your baby's hearing, don't hesitate to mention your concerns to your healthcare provider. Even though your baby's hearing may have already been tested, new problems can arise.

A helping hand
The chaotic first months are over and your baby's schedule is probably becoming more predictable. If you and your partner are raising your baby, it's important for both of you to get a chance to care for and bond with your baby. Make sure whichever one of you is not the primary caretaker gets regular time alone with your little one, for bathing him, changing him, and just getting tuned into his needs.

Maggie's Highlights
Weight: 10lbs, 15.2 ounces
Length: 23 1/4 inches
Head: 15 1/4 inches

* Reaches for my shirt or hands and grips it tight

* Pulls heads up for 2-4 seconds before it drops back down

* Eats about 5.5 ounces every 3-4 hours

* Poops every other day, and when she does it usually twice in that day

* Enjoys sitting in her bouncy seat

* Usually gets hiccups after every feeding

* Burps sound like air going out of a balloon

* Loves her Binky only to sooth her at night or right before sleep time

* Sleeps in 4-5 hour stretches at night time in her crib

* Her toots are smelly. Everyone says she has a dirty diaper after she passes gas, but every time we check she is clean and it is just gas.

* She fits in 0-3 months clothes. We have packed up the remainder of the newborn sizes.

We have adjusted more to having her at home. The nerves have settled down a bit and we are less wired. We have gotten to know her better and she has gotten to know us. She is a very quiet and good baby. If it is feeding time and you are taking too long to get the bottle ready she will let you hear it! It is exciting to see her try to lift her head up and to understand how instinctial that is!

On Sunday, December 12th, we celebrated Brady and Belle's 5th Birthday! They had the Jones Family over who we love and adore. The birthday had a Barbie Cake for Belle and a Jungle Cake for Brady! It was a fun day. I took more than 400 photos so it is hard just to put a few on here.
