Happy Easter!
Wow! Not sure where to begin? We spent the Saturday with Aunt Rita who is very sick in Sarasota. Mom got a call from our Cousin Cindi who said she was not doing well at all and Cindi really could use mom's help. I didn't want Mom to go all the way to Sarasota by herself since she was upset and I too wanted to see Aunt Rita. Our participation in Earth Day was cancelled so I packed up Maggie and off we went. Mike was on call most of the day so it worked out.
During our visit, Aunt Rita was out of it most of the time and we prayed over/for her. Mom helped the nurse get her better situated. I bought lunch for Cindi, Barb, and Jane (Aunt Rita's daughters)and gave our support.
Later in the afternoon we returned home. I then fed/packed up Maggie and we went up to Dade City because Mike was still on call for the evening and we needed to get up early for church.
Maggie did wonderfully all night. We woke up early for church and we got her Easter Dress on. Mike joined us and off to church we went. I love St. Rita's. We got to sing classic/favorite church songs (I am the bread of life and Jesus Christ is Risen today) and Maggie did wonderfully. Slept from the 2nd reading to communion.
We then went home and started to prepare Easter lunch. Which included: Honey Baked Ham, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked corn, green bean casserole, devil eggs, green salad, apple pie, cherry pie- A REAL FEAST.
Johnny and Laurel joined us as did Malcom and Judy. We opened Maggie's Easter present from Grand Ma and Pap Pap which included several outfits, socks and blocks set. Buster gave Aunt Laurel a rug that he tore up from our last visit.
The Easter Bunny brought Maggie two pairs of pink shorts, pants, 2 sippy cups, plastic eggs, and green and pink dress. Nana gave her a pink and white polk-a-dot Easter Basket with her name on it and a "My First Easter" bottle that the Easter bunny also placed in the basket with a boo-boo bunny.
Maggie is also sitting up so much better! We have been practicing in the mornings and evenings at home. At the sitter they are putting her on the floor with her blanket more for her to gain more strength. She can now sit up unassisted for about 15 seconds before losing her balance. She props her self with toy wheel that sings the alphabet and just spins the heck out of it!
The photo above Maggie has on the Easter outfit that Nana gave her that has the bunny on it. I took several more photos with my mom's camera- MINE WAS AT HOME! Mike thought it was in my trunk and didn't bring it!
Below are a few from her photo shoot a week ago:

Holy Thursday
Maggie was in great spirits as usual, checking everyone out. Even though it was packed the ushers found an aisle seat for us in the back. As we get to the second reading, I smell something. You know... Dirty diaper something. When I went to check her and take a quick peak, she peed through the diaper. At the exact same time I confirmed poop. No big deal, we'll go to the back room and change her.
I grab the wipes, pad, and start looking for a clean diaper. We had toys, her ball, doll, paci, rattle, blanket, receiving blanket, NO DIAPERS!!! As the smell starts to permeate through our section of the church, I spot a baby about the same size as Maggie at the other end of the pew in front of us. In the middle of the homily, I went over to a stranger and asked if she had an extra diaper. She graciously did. She gave the exact size that Maggie was! Jackpot.
I am still not sure how we could have an entire bag of stuff and not one diaper.
The two cards in the photo are from Mrs. Janke and Danny and Mary Kutsch.
Nana and Papa sent a package too but those photos are on the other camera.
Stay tuned!

Maggie 6 months

Independent sitting is itself an important skill, but it's also a big step toward learning to crawl. Once your baby can sit up, it's only a matter of time, strength, and coordination before that translates to a lunge forward onto hands and knees. A few babies start crawling (or getting around via some other form of early locomotion, like scooting) by 6 months, although most take off between 7 and 9 months.
Your baby's stronger neck and arm muscles allow him to practice rolling over toward one side, a milestone that will probably awe and amuse you. Your baby might adopt rolling as his primary mode of ground transportation for a while, or he may skip it altogether and move on to sitting, lunging, and crawling. As long as your baby continues to gain new skills and shows interest in getting around and exploring his environment, don't worry.
Rolling over can be fun for your baby, but it can also be nerve-racking for you. Keep a hand on your baby during diaper changes, and never leave him unattended on a bed or any other elevated surface.
Your little social butterfly
At this age your baby not only tolerates attention from others, he'll often initiate it. Though you may soon notice the beginnings of stranger anxiety, your baby will probably still be fairly indiscriminate: Chances are anyone who approaches him with welcoming eyes or a grin delights him and becomes an instant friend. But don't worry — he still needs and craves lots of love and attention from you.
Your baby is also learning that his behaviors, both the ones you like and the ones you don't, engage you, so starting now (and for years to come) he'll do just about anything to get your attention. Right now almost everything he does is endearing, but as he gets older, he's more likely to get into mischief to provoke a reaction from you. Just don't forget to give him positive feedback when he's being good. It's a great way to start teaching right from wrong.
One thing will become clear: Your baby is beginning to expand his attention-getting repertoire to include more than crying. You may notice him wriggling, making noises, blowing "raspberries," and so on. Over the next three months, he'll develop a uniquely personal way of letting you know what he thinks, wants, and needs.
Dressed for success
As your baby starts becoming more active, he'll appreciate wearing comfy clothes. Opt for soft fabrics that won't chafe him as he's moving around. Loose, stretchy, and breathable clothing is also smart as it provides your energetic little one plenty of wiggle room.
Avoid clothes with rough or scratchy seams; long ties, buttons, or bows (could be a choking hazard); and anything else that gets in the way of your baby's sleeping, crawling, playing, or other regular activities.
In your baby's diaper
Don't be surprised if your baby's stools change color and odor as soon as he starts eating even tiny amounts of solids. This is normal. If his stools seem too firm, switch to other fruits and vegetables and oatmeal or barley cereal. (Rice cereal, bananas, and applesauce may be constipating.)

Sunday Drive

This morning we went to church in Brandon. Mike was on-call all day, so after church, Maggie slept in the car till we went up to Dade City. Our first stop was at Grand Ma and Pap Pap's house. While we were there Maggie had on one of her biker outfits. She played for a while before we went up to St. Joe to meet Mallory.
We had do to a wardrobe change since Maggie had a blow out diaper.
While we were at the Hartwig's and Mallory was fast asleep. Maggie decided to take a quick nap too. Lindsey came home from running an errand with Geoff and we got to play a bit before Mallory woke up. Lindsey especially loved my Grover voice.

High Chair
So this week we busted out the high chair that the Gandle family gave us at one of our baby showers. They were so generous with this gift and it is exciting to finally get to use it.Mike put it together this afternoon. I love the pattern (which matches the stroller) and how it folds up so it could be stored in a closet. I love the baby sitting in it too. Maggie is modeling it so lovely in the photo here.We have been giving her cereal for about three weeks as she sits in her bumbo. Her support is not perfect, but getting stronger everyday. She sucks up the cereal kind of like a vacuum, then spits a bit of it back out. We decided to move up to the high chair so it will give her more support. She has been taking the cereal with out any problems. I am going to have to read up and research on what I should start next.
I believe the pediatrician said steamed and smashed veggies. We'll see.
