Halloween Night

Happy Halloween!
Maggie was a Bumble Bee!

We enjoyed Halloween with our dear friends Ann, James and Quinn, Quinnie the Pooh! We ate homemade pizza, salad and saw several trick or treaters come by the house. Thank you to Grand Ma Kutsch who bought Maggie her Halloween Costume! It was the perfect from Bee costume from Once Upon A Child!

We never did get to carve our pumpkin this year. Just didn't get to it! But Maggie did enjoy having the pumpkin hang out in her play area all week. She would always go up to it and tap the outside and point to the stem.

Halloween Fun

We had a very busy weekend right before Halloween where we got to see Buster Race at the Wiener Festival and also attended Maggie's First Halloween Party at the Maynard House.

Let's first clarify the "race" . Buster didn't move the dog didn't take one step to even try to move to win. The race was over in 5 seconds and he took 4th. There were only four dogs in his heat.

While at the "Wiener Festival" Maggie went on her first haunted hayride with Pap Pap that include live bugs. She also took a bite of her first hot dog!

Maggie enjoyed playing with all the big kids on the swing set at the Maynard Halloween Party and enjoyed the sand box time with Dad- another first!

So I couldn't take it. The disaster which was the house. I took an hour and power cleaned. This is when you crank the music up and you just clean up for one hour. The before kicks off the video. Then you see Miss Maggie and then like magic, the downstairs is clean!

My birthday!

Today was a wonderful day! See below what a different a year makes! Maggie did get to try some cream. She was going for more in the photo.

Chair

Maggie got in her rocking chair totally unassisted. She was so proud of herself! She took 1.5 steps as she got out of it! And she smiled for the camera!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we went to St. Andrew's UMC pumpkin patch. We picked a little pumpkin out for Maggie and a big pumpkin we will carve later. Here are some snap shots of our visit. We enjoyed a nice late lunch at Chili's before heading home to watch the Seminoles.

Maggie's 1st Year

Here is a little video I put together for Maggie's first year recap.
It was my first time using the Flip video program. Now that I have done it once you can expect Steven Spielberg like videos in the future.

Old Tradition

I can't remember when we started this, most likely when Mike and I got married, but we started to buy a Christmas ornament when we would travel on vacation. Instead of a mug, shot glass, t-shirt, we would buy an ornament. Wait- we did this before marriage because some of my favorites are the ones we bought in Europe. Anyway, this can't be an ornament that someone else got on a trip, it has to be us. Why this is so special because we tuck them away through out the year and at Christmas time we get ALL of them out when we decorate the tree and talk about the trip or vacation.

Here is my ornament from Nashville.

New Tradition

Every time my colleague would travel out of town for work she would buy presents to bring back for her daughter. Every time the child would be sad that her mom left for a business trip she would tell her daughter, don't worry mommy is going to bring you a surprise. These presents were affectionately called "guilt" presents. Cause mom would feel guilty for leaving the child.
For me - I don't feel guilt, because I know I am working hard to provide for her and know she is in the best of hands with her dad. When she stays with her grandparents on rare occasion we are both out of town, I know they are able to create a bond between child and grandparent that is so special and that makes me happy. So at the end of the day, I don't feel guilt. I do miss her terribly when I am away for work but know she is in the best care.

However, instead of a "made in china" toy each trip, I have instead decided to buy Maggie a book. I want her to be a GREAT reader and enjoy reading more than I ever did. So each work trip, I will snag a new book for her to enjoy when we are together. I plan to write the trip's name inside the book so I can remember where I was when I missed her that day.

Dancing with the Wiggles

The snapping at the end was to try to get Buster's attention to move out of the way. He doesn't listen either.

Progress

We have been battling a Yeast Diaper Rash. It began almost three weeks ago like a normal rash. We haven't had much of a rash in 10 months. Month 11 comes around and we flare up like the fourth of July. I think we had a series of several overnight poops. This is when Maggie wakes with a smile and a little extra in her pants. This caused, in my humble medical opinion and thanks to the bump.com ladies who pointed it out, I thought it could be a YEAST DIAPER RASH. So after 2 weeks of diligent destin applications, I called the doctor and told her what I thought it was a Yeast Diaper Rash and she said to get over the counter LOTRIMIN. The smart bump moms suggested to apply Lotrimin and Maximum strength (Purple Tube) of Destin after every diaper. They also said to put her in a baking soda bath. We tried all three of those techniques and sure as ever we are making "progress." Regardless, we have her yearly check up next week and Dr. Deckle will also be checking it too. Hopefully we are all cleared up by then.

Chicago treats

I got Maggie a few books as a treat for her while I was on my trip. She also loved her pillow pet and outfit that her Aunt Judi gave her. More to come!
