Where is Buster?
Where is Daddy? She slowly looked over at Mike.
Where is Mommy? She then looked over at me.
Where is Buster? And with out any hesitation looks down in search of Buster beneath her high chair. Buster is her buddy. No doubt.

11 months-3 weeks
Though at this point his vocabulary likely consists of only a couple of words besides "mama" and "dada," your baby can probably babble short, fully inflected sentences that sound like he's speaking a foreign language. Act as though you understand.
Your baby may be able to respond to simple questions and commands, especially if you give him some clues with hand gestures. For example, ask "Where's your mouth?" and point to it. Or try "Hand me the cup" and point to the object. He may even answer you in his own way, using his own gestures, such as shaking his head for "no."
Help him be helpful
Because he's receptive now, it's a good time to begin to teach your baby how to help out. Emphasize "please" and "thank you," and make toy cleanup time fun by turning it into a game. Though he probably won't get the idea just yet, it's not too early to start. Break the task into very small parts. At this age, he'll need you to work with him by his side.
Name that item
It's up to you to help your baby make connections between objects and their names — the more you do, the faster your child's vocabulary will grow.
Keep talking to your baby and labeling things. Count stair steps as you climb them, and point out the names and colors of the fruits and vegetables at the grocery store. Read your baby a picture book and ask him to point to or name familiar objects.
Solicit his opinion once in a while: Ask him if he'd like to wear the red or the blue socks, or if he'd like to play with his blocks or his stacking rings. Give him only two choices — both of which are right in front of him. He may not answer, but then again, he may surprise you.

Nana's Birthday!

Happy Birthday Nana! When you get married you not only marry a man, but his entire family. They are one in the same. Buy one get one free kind of deal. Just like your own family you don't get to choose them. If you are lucky enough like me, you hit the jack pot when it comes to inheriting in-laws and sister in-laws/brother in-laws. It is as if I have known them my entire life and I feel just as comfortable around them as I do my own family. Today is Maggie's Nana's Birthday. We love her so much! She is so giving and truly gives from her heart. She made Mike the man who he is today and for this I am so thankful. I truly think of her as family and we are so lucky to have her in our life. Every time she gives me a card, she white-outs the quotation marks where it usually says "Daughter" which is a little extra that means so much. Last week we went over to Vero to celebrate her birthday and took her out to a wonderful dinner. Maggie, Brady and Belle were so well behaved and it was a fabulous meal and such a nice evening. We always enjoy spending time in Vero and I always feel so welcome- this has been the case since my first visit when Mike and I were first dating. We love you and hope you have a wonderful day. Happy Birthday Nana!

Mom's Birthday Surprise
Johnny and Laurel came over two weeks ago with some very big news. See this link to the post I have been waiting to publish CLICK HERE , but waited to post until today. The story goes like this.... We had planned all week to come over on Friday to celebrate mom's birthday which was September 20th. The entire time we had been setting it up to take mom out to dinner and have Maggie come play for a bit. The entire time, Johnny and I had been plotting to have him and Laurel surprise Mom by coming home to Dade City unexpectedly. They were coming home to tell Mom and Dad the really big news- see surprise number two. Here is the video of Johnny surprising mom by being home for her birthday dinner.
Mom's BD Surprise #1 John & Laurel Home from Kimberly Higgins on Vimeo.
After we chatted a bit and before deciding where to go to dinner, I had told mom that we should just open presents before dinner because Maggie would be too tired to wait up. Thus the biggest surprise ever is below when mom opens her present and finds a frame that has a sonogram of Johnny and Laurel's baby!!
This was one of my favorite days of all time. To celebrate the news that my brother and his beautiful wife are going to have a baby is just so wonderful. We had a great meal at Outback after we all settled down a bit. Johnny and Laurel will be wonderful parents and I am so happy that Maggie will have a cousin that is close in age and that they will get to play together, build forts together, go to Disney World together and so much more! Our family is so blessed!

Happy Birthday Grand Ma!

Now that I am Mom I am constantly trying to figure out how my mom made it so easy. Everyday after working all day long at the hospital she would always have a hot and delicious dinner on the table. She kept the cleanest house, mostly impart we were slave labor and couldn't leave on Saturday mornings until the chores were done. She kept all of us in check including Dad and this always had the loudest banter on the block. We had clean clothes, clean house and clean bodies! All of which I find it harder and harder to do with Maggie crawling around. She taught me so many things and still continues with the most important lessons today. She always instilled a faith in God for which continues to shine path and hopefully makes me a better person.
I love you! Can't wait to celebrate on Friday! Cheers!-Kim, Mike and Maggie

11 months
Baby's speech development is growing rapidly these days, so try not to use baby talk too much when communicating with him. He's learning the language from those around him, so use simple adult language. Though baby's speech won't be as coherent as yours for a few years, encourage him to keep talking (and crack the code). If you correct him too much, it can get discouraging. Plus, it's pretty cute to hear him talk, even if you're the only one who understands what he's saying.Baby's crawling days are numbered! If he hasn't already taken his first steps, it might happen soon. Sit in front of him with your arms extended and a big smile on your face to encourage him to walk toward you, and don't forget to keep a camera nearby!
Maggie is 11 months!!
* She loves to eat: Black Beans, Green Beans, Macaroni & Cheese, Pasta, Banana, cantaloupe, watermelon, mashed potatoes, yogurt, toast, cheerios, chicken, cheese, almost everything.
* She loves to brush her teeth. This started a few weeks ago and she loves it! I think this is why she doesn't like bath time so she can get to brushing her teeth faster.
* She loves books: 5 shiny bugs, 10 ladybugs, Brown Bear. She can turn the pages.
* She can pull herself up, she walks along her play fence and crib. She can sit on one knee.
* She POINTS. Rude, I know, but she puts up that pointy finger and she just points at everything.
* She has more hair! Hopefully we can put some little bows in it soon.
* She loves to play chase with us around the kitchen. Loves walks with Buster.
* She is sleeping through the night. Goes to bed by 7:00-7:30 every night. Wakes around 7:15 to 7:30 morning.
* She is taking one nap during the day usually for about 2 hours. Seems to be shifting to 12-2.
* She loves to throw stuff off the coffee table. She can find the remote faster than we can.
* She love CHICA on the Sunny Side Up show.http://www.sproutonline.com/sprout/ssu/
I think she likes CHICA for two reasons- ONE- the bird talks like a KAZOO. Kazoo's have been a KUTSCH family thing forever. It is in her blood.
Secondly, they celebrate birthday's everyday with the Happy Birthday song. I love celebrating my birthday.
* She has been doing this thing with her head leaning to the side as if she is bashful or shy? Not sure where it came from.
* She is wearing 18 months-24 months clothes. Size 4 Pamper Diapers.
* She is loved more and more each day and we are so blessed.

Aunt Again!

Today Johnny and Laurel were in town for a wedding. We were watching Harley. John and Laure came over for breakfast and gave us a present that they said was for watching Harley.
When we opened it, it was a sonogram of Baby K! I screamed so loud! I was so shocked. It was like winning the lottery.
I am so very happy for the both of them! I can't even believe it! Maggie will have another cousin. I want to tell them so many things about their days ahead and the adventure that they are on, but you can't. You can only be excited for them and let them experience it on their own. We will continue to pray for Baby K, Laurel and Johnny as they start the journey of Parenthood. Such an amazing gift of life as our family grows in Love. We are so blessed.

Sarasota Cooking Demo
I had to get up at 3 am and head down to Sarasota for the cooking demo. Not too shabby. A little choppy at times, but over all pretty good.

Brush, Brush, Brush your teeth
A few weeks ago we bought a tooth brush and baby tooth paste. We sat on in for several days. The other night Maggie and I brushed her teeth for the first time. Tonight, she showed Daddy how to do it. She loved it and it is never too early to get started on these good habits early. So now, when she gets out of the tub, she will incorporate this into her routine.
