Mike's 35th Birthday!

Mike celebrated with our best friends and family at Mike's favorite BBQ place and hole in the wall bar "Ralphs". He got the cookie cake that he has been asking for months and memories that we will always remember. Here are some photos of the fun night!

V-tech Toys

Today, Ainsley Maynard, our friend's Brooke and Joe's daughter let Maggie borrow several v-tech toys: fire truck, phone, tree with balls and a crawl ball. We are so thankful and know she will get lots of use out of them.

CIO

Crying it out was something we never had to do before. Her bedtime routine was simple and easy. Bath, Books, Bottle, Bed. End of Story. But now that little Miss can crawl, stand up, wave hi, and cruise her crib rail we have had to resort to other options. Before she would go to bed in less than 30 seconds after I burped her. I would listen to one Rafi tune and down she went.

But that has changed. She has changed. She can do so much more and wants to practice more and more. So tonight we thought since she fell asleep for five minutes on the way home from church it would be a quick bed time. We did Bath, Medicine, Books, Bottle. She is teething- two tops are quickly coming in. We did oragel. She then didn't want to be even rocked or held. So I put her down in her bed and turned on Sally. I quickly exited. She stood up. We monitored her from the cameras in the office. She fussed. Cried. Standing there. Surely she could not stand for more than 5 minutes. 5 minutes passed. Surely she could not stand for 10 minutes. 10 minutes passed. More fussing, more standing. Now we are at the point of curiosity of how long she can stand there. 5 more minutes pass. Mores fussing, more standing... until she lost her balance. Then she lost her balance and fell on her butt. More fussing for like 10 seconds. She put her head down and passed out.

It worked. She was completely asleep. She is changing and so do we. Crying it out doesn't work for everyone and it is hard cause you hate hearing them fuss. But she needs to know that bedtime is bedtime. Not doing laps in your crib, chewing on your crib rail playtime. She was just fussy and tired. If I would have went in there it would have been twice as long or who knows how long it would have taken her to go to sleep.

She does not want pacie anymore, she prefers to chew on her cloth diapers. This teething stuff sucks. She has four teeth and #5 and #6 on top are coming in soon! After these two guys we have 14 more to go!!!

9 Months

Your baby may be the most sociable young creature around – until somebody unfamiliar comes near. Many babies this age have begun to show signs of fear or shyness around strangers. Some even start withdrawing from familiar relatives and friends, and want to be close to no one but you. This phase can be so brief you barely notice it, or it may last for months, depending on your child's temperament.
As baby's dexterity and mobility improve, it becomes even more important to make sure she's kept away from sharp corners and open outlets. Once your home's been thoroughly baby-proofed, though, it's time to take a step back. Let baby creep, crawl, pull herself up, and yes, take some spills -- baby needs to take a tumble or two in order to learn how to walk.

Wow! I can't believe it has been 9 months! Here we are already! Here is quick update on where we are:

* Drinking five 6 ounce bottles a day
* Pacie is rare item. Only at nap time on rare occassions.
* At Lunch and Dinner eats 2 ounces of oatmeal and 4 ounces of a fruit or veggie.
* We started puffs. She crosses mid plane to grab them. Left hand seems to be dominate for now. They say they don't decide left or right quite some time.
* Drinks water only out of her handled sippy cup all by herself.
* Crawls..fast too!
* Pulls herself up to a standing position.
* Favorite toys: Exersaucer, Piano table, Tiger Hoop Balls
* Favorite Books: Peek-A-Boo, Hungry Catapillar, Baby Cakes, Brown Bear
* Wearing very little 12 month clothes- mostly 18 months and 24 months.
* Size 4 Pamper Cruiser Diapers
* Size 3 shoes
* Waves Hi!
* Feeds herself puffs
* Has dumped Buster's water dish twice. Buster was not happy.
* Went to the beach the first time.

Stats:

Weight: 21 pounds 3 ounces 90 percentile
Height: 30. 25 inches 97 percentile
Head: 17.3/4 90 percentile

4th of July

Today we ventured out to Ft. Desoto Beach with the Cosentino family. We had a really nice day. You really never know how an outing like this is going to go. We had some really good luck. No traffic on the way there. Maggie's big diaper of the day was BEFORE we made it out to the sand. She was pretty content all day long! My favorite memory will be after we got out of the water I was sitting in the chair with her sipping on a root beer. She was chilling out. All of sudden I felt this warm water flowing down my leg... so much for the fancy water diapers! Once we heard thunder off in the distance we packed up. She napped all the way home! And to all the worriers out there... she had three levels of sunscreen on and her hat was on her head for 98 percent of the time- only to take the few photos below did her sun hat come off. We had this big umbrella that she played under.

We then had some great play time after at the house. The Whalen kid's let her borrow their big piano toy and is pulling herself up on it. She loves it! She bangs on it and does all the motions. I helped her in this photo, but she stood like this for 2 minutes!
