Let's go back to last Friday. Our caretaker Miranda asked me, "Have you thought about how you are going to potty train and reward the behavior?" Honestly, I had not thought about it. I thought potty training was around two. But, we were pro-active in asking Grand Ma and Pap Pap to hook Maggie up with a potty for Christmas, which they did and is awesome. We have had it out for the last two months, in the bathroom where she takes her bath. She wouldn't even look at it really.
Well, Miranda had a potty at her house, so today they were going to test it out. Since she used to be a official daycare worker at one of the best childcare places out in Fish Hawk, she had several tricks up her sleeve. First, we agreed that stamps would be the reward, this was decided on Friday. But that is really for later when full comprehension takes place. Today, was simply trial and error. So they tried it few times in the morning, gave Maggie a special book and had her sit on the potty while reading it. I mean, of course, at 16 months she needs bathroom material. Who knew? Miranda said in the morning, nothing really happened so she put back on the diaper and they went about their day. Then she thought she would try again, before I pick her up at 5pm. I was on the way there and I get this text from Miranda, "Maggie just went pee pee in the potty" I squealed with excitement. Yes, over body fluids. Yes, about my daughter at 16 months peeing on the potty. So I get there and flood Miranda with so many questions and of course needed to inspect this potty. And sure as ever, there was pee in her potty. I couldn't believe it.
Miranda suggested I try again at home in about an hour, or every half hour. I tried again at 6 pm,nothing. Oh well, I thought. We had played some more, had dinner. Then did our normal routine for bed. Well, this time I took off the diaper and gave her a special toy and book that she held on for dear life. I then said, "Time to sit on the potty." And placed her on there. I told myself, I am sure she is going to get up like the fifty times before. But there she sat... 10 seconds, 20 seconds. And I say, "Time to go pee pee." As I have did fifty times before. Then like a flowing river, she peed. A lot. I would estimate about 1/3 of a cup! I squealed!! Praised her and then gave her bath. I don't think she even really cares about the praise. She gave me this, "What is the big deal?" look.
Anyway, a big day for pee at our house. This is really exciting. She may not talk till two, but hey we if we can master potty training 8 months early, that would be a miracle and a ton of savings in diapers.

Feet on Table
Not sure how this started, but we have this habit of putting our feet on the table.

Sweet 16 Months
Today is Maggie's SWEET 16! Only in months, this little girl has stolen our hearts in so many ways. She is getting so spunky and more of her personality comes out each day. * Has ton of signs, new ones: Kitty Kat (Strokes whiskers), Ma Ma, Da Da
* She is starting to do this "I don't Know" with her hands.
* Still only has one word- Dada.
But we have some others:
** the "F" sound for "Fish"
** "uck" sound for Duck (Sounds like she is clearing her throat)
* Starting an interest in puzzles
* Loves the Ducks out back and Elmo's DUCK SONG
* Can put shapes in the right hole in the bucket.
* Today she really started to babble ALOT. As if she is enjoying hearing her voice.
* She eats everything. I can't think of much that she doesn't like.
* Moves her hands in a circle when doing wheels on the bus.
* Peed in the potty-- but was an accident. Mike just put her on the potty when the bath was starting to avoid her going on the floor.
* Pampers Size 4
* Mostly 18 months, 24 months in clothes
